But that being said the con for this weapon is it's a jack of all trades but a master of none.

It has both massive single target and swarm clear potential depending on how you build it and is obviously very accurate. But it lacks accuracy and can't deal with big targets as well. The autocannon has massive swarm clear potential and ammo efficiency. But it can't deal with swarms as well as the other 2 options can. The mini gun has range and high single target DPS with very good accuracy. Each weapon itself has pros and cons and have certain tradeoffs. All of the weapons gunner has (and any dwarf for that matter) are good. I believe what you're lacking is more experience with these weapons.
